Residence permit can be obtained with cultural investment
Cultural investment allows obtaining a Residence Permit for Investment (ARI /Golden Visa).
The general rules governing the granting of Residence Permit for Investment (ARI / Golden Visa), in force from 8 October 2012, enable third country nationals to obtain a temporary residence permit to conduct business activities with visa waiver to enter national territory.
The specific rules applicable for the issuance, by GEPAC, of the declaration attesting the effective transfer of capital for the purposes of ARI in the field of Culture, have now been established. The Portuguese Office of Strategy, Planning and Cultural Assessment (GEPAC) is responsible for the certification of such investments.
Regarding the type of investment covered, it may include support for artistic production or investment in the recovery or maintenance of national cultural heritage. The investment should be aimed at entities that continue to work in the area of artistic production and cultural heritage and any foreign citizen may use this procedure, either individually or through a sole shareholder company based in Portugal or in a Member State of the European Union and with a permanent establishment in Portugal. The application may also be submitted by the entity seeking the cultural investment or support.
The application is submitted via the GEPAC website and must be accompanied by the declarations of a banking institution attesting to the transfer of capital to the account of the banking entity and the beneficiary, and undertakes to use the amount exclusively in the activity chosen by the investor.
