On Berlenga island, in a small cove where the ferry boat lands, the small Carreiro do Mosteiro Beach is capable of meeting the highest standards of any sunbather and go onto delight with its calm and clear waters. The Beach is named after the old monastery that used to stand on this site and is located at the foot of a long valley. Its highly transparent waters are good for bathing and fish spotting to contrast with calm relaxation on the sands. The sands reddish in colour given the erosion of the granite predominant across the island, are excellent for recovering spent energy while gently taking in the sounds of water breaking on the nearby rocks.
